The ladies produce  these coiled woven baskets  using raffia and a banana stalk locally known as “bukeddo”to create . Raffia is a light fibre that is removed from a long palm-like leaf usually grown in the forests and the bukeddo is harvested from the banana plantations. The great thing about raffia ‘s  is that it's length makes it an ideal material for basket weaving and it can be dyed into almost any color.

The weaving skill is traditionally passed on to children at the tender age of 9 years from mother/ grandmother.

This basket available  in three sizes: 25 - 35 and 40 cm's (circumference of the basket at it's widest point
